GPS INVENTOR
During Mr. Easton's career, from 1943 until 1980, he was involved with four systems (Vanguard, Minitrack, Navy Space Surveillance System, and the Timation Program that later became the Global Positioning System).

Mr. Roger Easton is the " Principal Inventor and Designer of the Global Positioning System (GPS)" that subsequently led to the establishment of the Roger L. Easton Science and Engineering Award in 1996, the second named award in the history of NRL.
